The Red Deer Region
has convenient access to all major modes of transportation
-- air, rail,
road, east-west & north-south hub.

Central Alberta is the home
of a busy modern regional airport
with scheduled passenger service. In addition, the area is an hour's drive from two major international
airports.
Industry is served by both
Canadian Pacific
Railway's main north-south line and a CN Rail east-west line.
Red
Deer is located midway between the two major vibrant Canadian cities of
Edmonton and Calgary, making it a major hub of transportation activity.
The
main Alberta corridor expressway, Highway 2 (also known as the Queen
Elizabeth 2 Highway) links Red Deer with the two major cities as well as
numerous other productive communities.
It
is being upgraded to freeway standard as part of the Canamex highway
project linking Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
An excellent inter-connective highway network links Red Deer and the
region to major industrial, commercial and tourism centres as well as
the rest of the province to all of the amenities of Central Alberta.
The city of Red Deer has a convenient and effective transit system that
ranges from full size handicapped-accessible buses to the smaller
handibus.
For
those who prefer active transportation, Red Deer is well-known for its
remarkable trail system. Other communities also have excellent trail
systems and the development of the Trans Canada Trail through the region
is progressing.
The Red Deer Region is
the envy of cities everywhere in being in or near the major crossroads
of international trade and tourism.
