Healthy economy, perfect
location, beautiful parks and lakes
The Red Deer Region is
the activity hub for transportation, distribution, heritage, tourism,
agriculture and conventions .
. .
. . .
plus a wide range of recreational, cultural and shopping opportunities
The
city of
Red Deer
and the Red
Deer Region have the perfect location -- halfway between
Alberta's two major urban centres, in the centre of Canada's
fastest growing economic corridor.
The area is close to the Rocky Mountains, beautiful
parks and open
spaces, heritage sites, all types of
accommodation,
dining, shopping and other major
attractions and facilities.
The people are energetic,
friendly, innovative and community oriented. Diversity of culture,
heritage, the arts, and its many festivals
earned the city the title of cultural centre of Canada in 2003.
The
Red Deer Region
The region is defined in many different ways by various organizations.
RDRED (Red Deer Regional Economic Development) defines the Red Deer
Region as the City of Red Deer and Red Deer County.
The Alberta Land-Use
Framework has recently defined the Red Deer Region as roughly the
watershed of the Red Deer River as far south as Drumheller.
Many
organizations consider the region as the same as Central Alberta, which
in turn, is defined in different ways. The most common definition of the
Red Deer Region is an area approximately half way to Edmonton in the
north to half way to Calgary in the south, from the National Park
boundary in the west to Coronation in the east and sometimes as far east
as the Saskatchewan border.
For this publication, the Red Deer Region consists of two primary
regional zones: The Central Region
and the Complimentary Region.
