The immediate Red Deer area, approximately four miles (6.5 km) around the city boundary, in Red Deer and Lacombe Counties, between Penhold and Blackfalds, including the hamlet of Springbrook and the Regional Airport.
  
Highways QE2 and 2A run north-south to Blackfalds and Lacombe northward
and Penhold and Innisfail southward.
Highway 11 runs east-west through the city to Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House and the Rocky Mountains westward and Joffre and Stettler eastward.
Highway 11A runs north of Highway 11 between Sylvan Lake and Red Deer.
Highway 595
runs south of the city east to Delburne.
