industrial.
Features in the area between Penhold and Blackfalds in the
central corridor include Red Deer College, Waskasoo Park, Westerner Park, the Regional
Airport at Springbrook, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Fort Normandeau,
Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, the Red Deer and Blindman rivers, Gasoline Alley,
4 golf courses, several recreational and commercial areas and Canyon ski hill.
Close by are five recreational lakes (Sylvan, Gull, Pine, Glennifer,
Buffalo), the Ellis Bird Farm and the major petrochemical complex
at Joffre and Prentiss.
Three major highway
corridors converge in Red Deer (QE2, 2A, 11). The Canadian Pacific
Railway main line between Calgary and Edmonton runs along the west side
of the city and interchanges with Canadian National Railway.
