Deer's central location, halfway between
Calgary and Edmonton, Central Alberta's towns, villages, hamlets and
recreational areas can boast a variety of cultural, historical,
transportation, leisure and community experiences for both residents and
visitors alike.
Red Deer
and many of the communities within the region are ideally situated on
the Queen Elizabeth 2 expressway (part of the Highway 2 north-south
corridor), a 4-lane
divided Highway that is part of the Canamex Corridor linking Canada, the
U.S. and Mexico.

Red Deer is also the focal point of the
Highway 11/12 east-west traffic corridor serving several major
communities along the route from British
Columbia and the Rocky Mountains to the Saskatchewan border.
Other major traffic corridors within the region include the north-south
Highway 22 corridor to the west and Highway 21 corridor to the east.
The east-west Trans Canada routes (Highway 1 to the south and Highway 16
to the north) are only a 60 minute drive from Red Deer and even closer
for many communities in the region.
