City Hall Park
Red Deer
Home to both city hall and the main
library building which has incorporated the historic armoury building,
visitors and residents alike often enjoy the atmosphere of the park
located in the center of the city with its very well manicured gardens
consisting of
hundreds of flowers, green areas, pathways, serene benches and summer entertainment.
One of many park facilities scattered throughout the city, including
Waskasoo Park along the creeks and river, making Red Deer one of the

Downtown Ghosts Project, Murals and
Alexander Way Red Deer
Wind your way through the downtown core where you will meet
Red Deer's founder, a musical mentor, an intrepid little pig, rearing
horses and much more, all in bronze. Compliment this with the historical
walking tour for a variety of architectural styles (including the old
CPR railway station, old court house and old armoury, all preserved
historical sites) that have made Red Deer a unique and culturally rich
community. Under development is Alexander Way from the Recreation Centre
and the Golden Circle through the downtown and eventually through
Riverlands across the river to Bower Ponds with street art, furniture,
plantings, murals, cultural events and boutiques.

Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Red Deer (along QE2 Highway)
An interactive, hands-on celebration
of Alberta's sporting history. Over 6,000 square feet of exhibit
space includes an interactive hockey rink, baseball pitching field,
Alpine Skiing machine, and the Honoured Members Gallery. Also has over 7,000 artifacts of Alberta
sports history in its collection, alternating monthly for visitors to
view. Next to Heritage Ranch and Waskasoo Park.

St. Mary's Church Red Deer
World-renowned architect and native of Red
Deer, Douglas Cardinal, designed St. Mary's Church as his first
project in 1968. Known for the grace and beauty of its lines and the quiet
serenity of worship space, visitors from all over the world have
stopped to explore this truly unique structure. You are invited to
share the peace and tranquility as a guide explains the history of the
Church and answers your questions about the unique artwork and
construction.

Alberta Prairie Steam Train Excursions Stettler
Explore the scenic countryside via
round-trip day excursions on a vintage train powered by a 1920 steam
locomotive. All trips depart from Stettler to selected destinations on a
304 km (190 mi) route. Tours are four to eight hours, and include
on-board entertainment (and the occassional train robbery) and roast beef buffet served at the destination.
Choices include country dinners, murder mysteries, Teddy Bear Specials
and Dinner Theatre.

Discovery Wildlife Park, Innisfail
An educational wildlife park
featuring daily animal presentations allowing visitors to get up close
to the bears, tigers, lions, monkeys, etc. Photo opportunities are
available with the animals after presentations. Park has taken in
orphaned wildlife from the region. Plans to build a four storey ark.

RCMP Police Dog Training Innisfail,
The only RCMP dog training facility
in Canada, Wednesday demonstrations in spring and summer.

Dickson Dam
Interpretive Centre near Dickson
20 km. west of Innisfail is Glennifer Reservoir, a lake fed by the Red Deer River
and held back by the Dickson Dam. At the damsite overlooking the Red Deer
River valley, you'll find an information display, numerous viewpoints, a
beautifully landscaped picnic area and some great fishing holes.
Lacombe Corn Maze
The MAZE, a
human puzzle carved into several acres of cornstalks over your head, is
dedicated to helping students learn more about agriculture by allowing
them to experience it firsthand.
